New Xbox Rewards App Announcement: What You Should Know
Reports are circulating that Xbox consoles are displaying a message to alert players about the end of Microsoft Xbox Rewards. The weekly series of quests will stick around until the end of November before being permanently removed in December. Moving forward, the quests will appear in a new Rewards tab in your Xbox profile. However, this new tab doesn’t seem to offer streaks or some other bonuses that were features of the old Microsoft Rewards app.
Previously, the Microsoft Xbox Rewards quests presented an easy way for players to accumulate points for Xbox purchases. The news originally broke on Twitter by user IdleSloth and showed a screenshot in Portuguese, which hasn’t yet surfaced on consoles in other regions.
Fans of freebies who enjoy collecting Microsoft Reward points via their Xbox dashboard are facing a significant disappointment, as Microsoft appears to be discontinuing the weekly reward quests on the console and shutting down the Microsoft Rewards app on Xbox. The message suggests that activities will simply be moving to another Rewards app, but historically changes have resulted in fewer rewards overall.
The message was initially broken on X (Twitter) and reads: “(FYI) In December, Xbox Rewards is getting a New App to simplify and streamline Reward the experience.” However, it is still unclear whether this transition will be a global change, and we will provide updates as we learn more.
Earn Rewards with Xbox
A transition for the Reward system on Xbox has been announced, pointing to the conclusion of players’ weekly streaks for the Microsoft Rewards weekly activities. The discontinuation of the separate app will likely result in fewer cumulative rewards overall, as the current Rewards dashboard on Xbox has also seen a decline in available activities.
Microsoft Rewards, originally designed to incentivize Bing.com usage, could see significant changes to the rewards system on Xbox. The prospect of a new app and its accompanying activities leaves players skeptical, given the historical patterns of changes to the Rewards system.
Although changes are on the way, you can still earn Microsoft Rewards points in other ways elsewhere. There are currently no changes to the Bing search, spending money in the Microsoft Store, and daily activities on Microsoft Rewards.
