Is Billund the Ultimate Child-Friendly Destination in Europe? Discover the Brilliance!

Denmark’s ‘Capital of Children’ offers much more than just a fun day out in Legoland. Billund’s Wow Park is a thrilling adventure with slides, safaris, and swings galore. One of the park’s most exhilarating attractions is the Lightning slide, where visitors take a leap of faith from the top platform, soaring through a covered tunnel before being propelled round a bend. The Giant’s Forest Racer and Spiral slide offer slightly tamer options for those who prefer less intense rides.

As I climb to the top with my daughter Evie, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension. The drop is only visible for a few meters before you freefall to the slide’s finale, and the rush of adrenaline is addictive.

In Billund, expansive attractions are the norm. Lalandia, situated next to Legoland, is home to Scandinavia’s largest waterpark, the Aquadome. With slides, rivers, and pools galore, both children and adults can enjoy the thrill of water-based adventures. One of our favorite rides is the Twister, where we spin around in a covered slide before being ejected into a large bowl and transported around its sides.

The Lego theme is a major draw for visitors to Billund, with Legoland offering a mix of nostalgia, thrilling rides, and impressive Lego sculptures. We stay at the Legoland Castle Hotel, where our wizard-themed room is perfect for families. The room comes with a box of Lego bricks, and there are various interactive activities for children to enjoy throughout their stay.

At Lego House, visitors can let their imaginations run wild with 25 million Lego bricks at their disposal. One of our favorite activities is the Mood Mixer, where we build Lego characters and add emotions to watch them come to life on a giant screen. We also contribute to the two million-brick waterfall and leave with a unique six brick combo, symbolizing the endless possibilities of Lego.

To plan your trip, consider staying at the Legoland Castle Hotel and take advantage of the various amenities and activities offered there. Fly into Copenhagen and rent a car to make the three-hour drive to Legoland. This way, you can fully immerse yourself in the ‘Capital of Children’ and enjoy all that it has to offer.
