Iowa Man Sentenced to 50 Years in Prison for Woman’s Gruesome Murder

An Iowa man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to the brutal murder of a woman whose skull was discovered mounted on a stick in a local park.

The victim, Angela Bradbury, 29, was reported missing by her family in February 2022. Her skull was found in the park, and dental records confirmed her identity.

Nathan James Gilmore, 24, was originally charged with first-degree murder but pleaded guilty to second-degree murder to avoid a mandatory life sentence.

According to an arrest complaint obtained by HuffPost, a blood-spattered drawing of a satanic goat’s head in the shape of a pentagram was found on the wall of Gilmore’s living room. The drawing contained numbers representing the date Bradbury was last seen and the GPS coordinates of the park where her remains were discovered.

“I will forever live with the fact that your face is the last face she saw," Angela Bradbury's father said in court to James Gilmore, who pleaded guilty in the 29-year-old woman's murder.

During the victim impact statement in court, Bradbury’s father expressed his grief and anguish, stating, “I will forever live with the fact that your face is the last face she saw. That terror was the last emotion she felt. You killed my child and then went home like nothing happened.”

Bradbury’s father also addressed Gilmore directly, saying, “You returned later to the site where you killed her and buried her and proceeded to remove her head. The head that I kissed goodnight hundreds of times, the head that her mom placed her hand on to feel for a fever. The head of which the most perfect, mischievous smile would creep. The head her beloved dog Batman licked with enthusiasm. You took it and placed it on a spike in an attempt to appease the devil inside of you. How could anyone do that? How could any decent person sleep with that on their conscience?”

According to authorities, Bradbury was last seen leaving a friend’s house with a man matching Gilmore’s description. Gilmore initially claimed they were strangers when questioned by police. However, it was revealed that Bradbury and Gilmore had met at the Cer
