Patak Rodster: A Quirky Two-Seater Electric Microcar

Slovakia-based Patak Motors introduces its latest creation, the Patak Rodster. This unique two-seater electric microcar draws inspiration from ’30s roadsters, evident in its open-top design, lightweight frame, and thin spoked-rim wheels. The Patak Rodster measures 336 cm long, 139.5 cm wide, and 1,360 cm tall, weighing just 992 lbs (442 kg) without the battery.

The Rodster is designed to be homologated as an L7e-A2 vehicle in Europe, allowing 16-year-old drivers in several European countries to operate it. Patak Motors describes the Rodster as the perfect city companion, equipped with features that make it an ideal urban vehicle.

Patak Motors plans to offer different versions of the Rodster. The Stage 1 electric variant features a rear-mounted permanent-magnet synchronous motor with 20 hp, reaching 50 km/h in approximately seven seconds and a top speed of 130 km/h. Its 10 kWh battery provides a range of 100 km on a full charge. The Stage 2 version doubles the battery capacity to 20 kWh, increasing the driving range to 250 km. Patak Motors also plans to release an internal combustion engine (ICE) variant with a 20 hp one-cylinder petrol engine.

The Rodster comes equipped with standard features such as four-wheel disc brakes, a wood decor dashboard, a three-spoke steering wheel, faux leather upholstery, a multifunction touchscreen display, central locking, a tire repair kit, and a rain protection cover. The electric versions also offer a 200-litre trunk space. Optional extras include heating, cupholders, wireless charging, parking sensors, and a rear-view camera.

The ICE Patak Rodster will be the most affordable option, starting at approximately $24,500 (€16,900). The base EV Rodster starts at $33,150 (€22,900), while the 20 kWh version costs about $36,800 (€25,400). Production is set to begin in August 2024, with customer deliveries expected by the end of November 2025.
