Inter Milan Maintain Interest in Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah Amid Transfer Plans, Could Also Pursue Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga

Inter Milan maintains its interest in signing Chelsea’s talented defender Trevoh Chalobah during the summer transfer window. With their sights also set on Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga, Simone Inzaghi’s side is actively exploring options to strengthen their central defense.

Despite being linked to Chalobah since June, Inter Milan is yet to make an official move for the 24-year-old. However, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Chalobah remains on their list as they look to bolster their defensive options. Last season, Chalobah made 33 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions and was even named on the bench for their Premier League opener against Liverpool.

While Chalobah recently signed a six-year contract extension with Chelsea in November 2022, rumors suggest he could follow the footsteps of his teammate Mason Mount and potentially seek a move away from Stamford Bridge. Mount is one of twelve first-team players to depart Chelsea this summer, reflecting a squad overhaul led by the club’s new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino.

As part of their squad revamp, Chelsea secured the signing of Moises Caicedo for a record transfer fee, showcasing their ambition to strengthen the team. Additionally, the Blues are reportedly close to acquiring Southampton’s Romeo Lavia to further increase competition within the squad.

In addition to Chalobah, Inter Milan is also interested in Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga. The 19-time Serie A champions view Tanganga as a potential asset to add depth to their squad. However, Tanganga’s playing time at Tottenham was limited last season, featuring in only seven matches. With new manager Ange Postecoglou looking to trim the squad, Tanganga could be one of several players set for a potential departure, alongside the likes of Hugo Lloris, Sergio Reguillon, Giovani Lo Celso, and Tanguy Ndombele.
