Instagram CEO Returns to United States Shortly After Threads Experiences Significant User Decline

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, has made the decision to return to the US after moving to London last year. The move comes as the app Threads, which Mosseri oversees, struggles to retain users. Mosseri cited the challenges of working in a different time zone and the significant changes in the company’s strategy as reasons for his return. It is unclear if Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg played a role in the decision. Mosseri’s move to London last year was an attempt to compete with Instagram rival TikTok in Europe. However, the move raised concerns among employees who were urged to spend more time in the office. Meta recently announced that most employees would have to work on-site at least three days a week. Despite the challenges faced by Threads, Mosseri remains confident in its future success. Threads saw a surge of over 100 million users within its first week, but that number has since halved. The app has implemented a chronological newsfeed feature in response to user requests.
