Samantha Jones returns to “And Just Like That” after an unexpected change of heart.
Kim Cattrall, who previously declared she would never appear on the show, shared her experience and what convinced her to make a surprise cameo on the “Sex and the City” sequel series.
During an appearance on “The View,” Cattrall revealed that she received a call from HBO’s head asking what they could do to bring her back.
“I thought, ‘Let me get creative,'” Cattrall said, finding inspiration to return in the opportunity to work with acclaimed costume designer Pat Field again.
Cattrall emphasized the importance of embracing Samantha’s iconic style if she were to make a comeback, and together with Field, they achieved just that.
Field, known for her work on the original “Sex and the City” series and movies, briefly returned to collaborate with Cattrall on her appearance in “And Just Like That.”
Variety broke the news in May that Cattrall would reprise her role as Samantha Jones in the second season of the show.
However, Cattrall’s return will reportedly be limited to a single in-person scene where Samantha has a phone conversation with Sarah Jessica Parker’s character, Carrie Bradshaw.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Parker referred to Samantha’s presence in the series, explaining that it was a nod to the 25 years of “Sex and the City” to have her face alongside the character’s text messages.
Parker expressed her satisfaction with how they managed to fit in Samantha’s character and create a sentimental and funny phone call between her and Carrie Bradshaw.
