The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has been exploring potential joint collaborations with Boeing Co., Blue Origin LLC, and Voyager Space Holdings Inc. as part of an ongoing increase in cooperation between the space programs of the United States and India. According to a statement by India’s department of space, these partnerships could include Indian commercial entities as well.
This official visit by Nasa administrator Bill Nelson to various locations in India highlights the deepening alliance between Nasa and the Indian Space Research Organization, which has achieved notable accomplishments in the past year, including a successful spacecraft landing near the moon’s south pole.
Nasa and ISRO are working together to launch a joint Earth-observing mission in 2024. There are also plans to send an Indian astronaut to the International Space Station next year.
Furthermore, ISRO’s ongoing projects involve potential collaboration with Blue Origin’s proposed Orbital Reef space station as well as Voyager’s plans for deploying small satellites using Indian rockets.
Boeing is also considering manufacturing a space capsule simulator for India’s human spaceflight project, which is scheduled for 2025. In addition, India is looking to develop a next-generation launch vehicle and a new launchpad to support its lunar exploration efforts.
