In Final Round, Bryson DeChambeau Achieves Historic 58 and Secures LIV Golf Record

Bryson DeChambeau achieved a historic milestone in the world of LIV Golf on Sunday at the White Course at Greenbrier in West Virginia. Despite the wet conditions, DeChambeau scored an impressive 58, making him only the fourth player in top-level tour history to accomplish this feat. The victory not only marked DeChambeau’s first title in LIV Golf but also set a new record for the lowest single-round score in LIV Golf history.

DeChambeau expressed his elation, stating, “Probably the greatest moment in my golf career.” The U.S. Open champion from 2020 recorded a 58, with a bogey on his scorecard, finishing the tournament at 23-under 187, a six-shot lead over Mito Pereira.

Reflecting on his performance, DeChambeau added, “It’s beyond words. I’ve been working hard for a long time, and I knew something special would happen eventually, but I didn’t know when… Then today, I just felt everything clicking.”

Notably, DeChambeau’s achievement joins a select group of players who have scored 58 in top-level tournaments. Jim Furyk accomplished this in the Travelers Championship on the PGA Tour in 2016, Ryo Ishikawa did so at The Crowns in 2010, and S.J. Kim achieved it at the 2021 Golf Partner Pro-Am on the Japan Golf Tour.

DeChambeau’s victory comes after a brilliant performance on Saturday, where he shot a 61, narrowing the gap between him and Matthew Wolff to just one shot. However, DeChambeau’s exceptional performance on Sunday propelled him to the top, while Wolff tied for third with Richard Bland and David Puig, shooting a 66.

This win not only marks DeChambeau’s first victory across any tour since the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational but also awards him a prize of $4 million.

In terms of the LIV Golf leaderboard, Talor Gooch currently leads with 145 points, while DeChambeau holds the fifth position. There are still four events remaining in the season.

Overall, DeChambeau’s achievement sets a new standard in LIV Golf history, further solidifying his reputation as a standout player in the sport.
