Impacted in 150 countries: Be Alert! Milky Signs in Your Engine Could Indicate a Looming Disaster

A motoring expert has shared valuable insights on warning signs indicating the need for car repairs. According to the International Drivers Association, drivers should regularly inspect the bottom of their vehicle’s oil cap.

Dominic Wyatt, an expert from the International Drivers Association, advises that if a milky substance is found on the cap, it could be an indication of damage.

He further explains, “Check for water contamination in the oil. A milky appearance suggests the presence of water.”

Even if a small amount of the substance is detected, immediate action should be taken to prevent the problem from worsening considerably.

There can be various reasons for water contamination in the engine oil, with the most common one being a damaged seal that allows coolant or other fluids to enter.

However, in more severe cases, oil contamination may be caused by a leaking or blown head gasket, as well as cracks in the cylinder head or block.

Regardless of the cause, the presence of water over time can reduce engine lubrication, leading to accelerated component wear and an increased risk of corrosion.

In addition, Dominic also highlights the importance of checking the underside of the vehicle after bad weather, such as a storm, to ensure that no animals are hiding underneath.

He advises, “Following a storm, it is worth quickly inspecting for wildlife under our parked cars. Rabbits, hedgehogs, and even cats may seek shelter in the wheel wells or under the warmth of the engine.”

The International Drivers Association suggests that motorists should also check certain areas, particularly after a storm. This includes inspecting the tires for any splits that could cause slow punctures.

They also recommend examining the windows for small cracks caused by debris hitting the vehicle, as these cracks may allow water to enter the interior.

By conducting a thorough inspection after a storm, drivers can ensure the safety of their vehicle and avoid potential expensive disasters.
