Iceland has once again been crowned the most peaceful country in the world for the 15th consecutive year, while global peace levels have slightly decreased, according to a recent report by the Institute for Economics and Peace.
The institute’s latest Global Peace Index for 2023 highlights the top 10 countries known for their peace and tranquility. Iceland claimed the top spot as the most peaceful country, followed by Denmark and Ireland in second and third place, respectively. Here is the complete list of the top 10 most peaceful countries:

Out of the 163 countries listed, the United States ranked 131 in terms of peace. The study reveals that the United States has seen a significant increase in its homicide rate, which now exceeds six per 100,000 people and is over six times higher than most Western European countries.
The Institute for Economics and Peace states that the gap between the least and most peaceful countries continues to widen. Since 2008, the 25 least peaceful countries have experienced an average decline of 12.1%, while the 25 most peaceful countries have improved by 4.3%.
