During the highly anticipated League of Legends World Championship final, Riot Games announced Hwei, a new champion that will be added to the game, along with a glimpse into his forthcoming abilities. This revelation has sparked excitement among the game’s devoted community.
Hwei is a mage specifically designed for the mid lane and will fill a gap in the League of Legends landscape by introducing a male mage character into this position. Anticipation is high for Hwei’s release, with gamers expecting him to be one of the most intricate champions to master, as he boasts a formidable set of 10 diverse abilities.
Hwei possesses three sets of basic abilities, each consisting of three unique spells. With the use of one ability from each set, the other two spells in that set will be placed on cooldown, thereby necessitating strategic decision-making when choosing spells.
The first set of abilities, aptly named Disaster, focuses on inflicting damage. Devastating Fire launches a fireball in the target direction, which explodes upon impact, causing damage to enemies within the area. Severing Bolt releases a delayed strike, dealing increased damage to immobilized or isolated enemies. Meanwhile, Molten Fissure sends forth a line of lava to slow down any adversaries unfortunate enough to cross its path.
Following this, Hwei’s Serenity abilities concentrate on empowering both himself and his allies. Fleeting Current allows Hwei to draw a line on the map, granting increased movement speed to him and his teammates upon crossing it. Pool of Reflection provides an immediate shield to allied champions within its area, and Stirring Lights enhances Hwei’s attack capabilities, offering extra damage upon successful hits and replenishing his mana reserves.
Then, Hwei’s Torment abilities are geared toward controlling enemy movement. Grim Visage induces the first enemy it hits to flee, Gaze of the Abyss roots the nearest champion after a brief delay, and Crushing Maw traps and draws in any enemies within its reach.
Finally, Hwei’s ultimate ability, Spiraling Despair, involves launching an orb that attaches to an enemy champion, causing incremental damage and a reduction in movement speed to any foes it encounters. The orb eventually explodes, dealing significant damage to nearby enemies.
Hwei is scheduled to be introduced in League of Legends patch 13.24, set to be released in the coming weeks, much to the delight of eager gamers awaiting his arrival.
