Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness Jackman are separating after almost 30 years of marriage. People was the first to report the news.
The couple shared a statement with the publication, stating, “We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”
They continued, “Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
The statement was signed “Deb and Hugh Jackman.” The couple also made it clear that this would be their only public comment on the matter.
Representatives for the Jackmans did not respond immediately to Insider’s requests for comment.
The couple first met in 1995 on the set of an Australian TV show and got married in April of the following year. Their most recent public appearance together was at the Met Gala in New York this past May.
After facing challenges in conceiving children, the couple made the decision to adopt. They have a 23-year-old son named Oscar and an 18-year-old daughter named Ava.
