How Holiday Autos ruined my airport car hire: demanding a refund now! | Money

Experience with Holiday Autos: A Chaotic Car Rental Saga at Inverness Airport

I recently booked a car through Holiday Autos, paying £186.95 for the service. My plan was to collect the vehicle from the Hertz office located at Inverness Airport. I even provided my flight number in advance to ensure a smooth process.

However, upon arrival, my expectations were shattered. Despite the confirmation document assuring me of an escorted journey from the arrivals terminal to the Hertz office, no courtesy driver was present.

To my surprise, airport staff informed me that I should wait for the Hertz driver at a small cabin in the corner of the car park. Trusting their guidance, I headed there, only to discover that no pickup from Hertz arrived. Furthermore, I learned that the Hertz office closed at 4pm, contradicting what Holiday Autos had stated – 10.30pm.

Left stranded, Holiday Autos advised me to take a taxi at an additional cost of £10 to the Hertz branch. Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed once again as the branch was locked. Disappointingly, Holiday Autos claimed their inability to assist me.

With limited options available at the terminal, I reluctantly rented a car from Europcar for the exorbitant price of £371.36.

Regrettably, Holiday Autos stubbornly refused to provide any refund for their incompetency.

To add to the chaos, the Hertz website clearly states that the office in question closes at 4pm. Moreover, your Holiday Autos booking confirmation indicated a pickup time of 4pm, which coincided with your flight landing.

Hertz explains that if they had been informed of your schedule in advance, they would have made arrangements to accommodate you.

Holiday Autos, in response to your complaint, initially claimed that you failed to show up, therefore, denying your refund request.

Only when I intervened did they admit their mistake of not providing your flight number to Hertz, resulting in the closure of the office after 4pm.

Considering the misleading closing time of 10.30pm provided by Holiday Autos, it was impossible for you to anticipate informing Hertz about your delayed arrival.

Finally, after more than two months of frustration, Holiday Autos has agreed to refund you the additional car hire charge and the taxi fare.
