How a Clever Woman Saved Money on Flight Extra Luggage with a ‘BBL’ Hack

One woman came up with an ingenious way to avoid paying Frontier Airlines’ carry-on luggage fees — she gave herself a DIY Brazilian butt lift.

In a TikTok video, Shewana McGee demonstrated her travel hack that helped her avoid the extra charges. According to the video’s text, McGee’s personal item was too large, forcing her to pay for a carry-on bag.

Frontier Airlines allows one personal item per person, but carry-ons and checked bags come with additional fees. If passengers wait until they reach the gate to pay for a carry-on, the fee can be as high as $99, according to the airline’s website.

Instead of paying at the gate, McGee placed her belongings in the seat of her pants, creating the illusion of a Brazilian butt lift.

Her video’s caption read, “Keep it FREE sis.”

In a follow-up video posted later that day, McGee revealed that she managed to flatten her bag enough to fit the airline’s bag sizer before implementing the BBL hack.

To conceal any suspicious lumps or bumps, McGee wrapped a jean jacket around her waist. A closer photo without the jacket showed a bumpy and pointy bag in the back of McGee’s pants.

Neither McGee nor Frontier representatives responded to a request for comment outside of regular working hours.

The video, which has been viewed over one million times as of Sunday, received over a thousand comments in support of McGee’s improvised butt lift. One person wondered if anyone from Frontier questioned McGee’s enhanced behind, to which she responded, “Nope.”

Commenters expressed frustration with Frontier’s baggage policy, saying they wished they had thought of the hack when charged for a carry-on at the gate.

“They charged me $99 at the gate and you’re telling me I could’ve just done this,” one person wrote.

This is not the first time travelers have used unconventional clothing hacks to avoid expensive fees.

Earlier this year, TikTokers started sharing videos about wearing fishing vests to the airport and filling them with small items that couldn’t fit in their carry-on bags.

Insider reporter Hannah Towey tried the hack herself and successfully made it through the airport without any issues.
