Horseback Journey Across Country Abandoned Prematurely Due to Minor Offense

  • A man sparked controversy when he embarked on a horseback journey from Texas to Seattle.
  • Cyril Bertheau faced accusations of neglecting his horses, but he continued the trip.
  • He has now been charged with a misdemeanor due to issues with the horses’ vet documents, leading to the premature end of his journey.

Cyril Bertheau, a 24-year-old self-described man who gets things done, embarked on a horseback journey from Austin, Texas to Seattle, Washington in April. However, his trip was cut short on August 4 when he was charged with a misdemeanor for lacking a certificate of veterinary inspection for his horses.

Bertheau faced relentless criticism and accusations of animal abuse from equestrians who followed his journey on social media. Despite the controversy, he continued his trip with his horses named Shiok and Pete, but is now attempting to sell them.

In a TikTok video, Bertheau advertised the horses for $60,000, portraying them as reliable and hardworking companions. However, experienced equestrians raised concerns about the horses’ well-being and Bertheau’s lack of knowledge on equestrianism.

In response to the allegations, Bertheau dismissed them as baseless and insisted that he took good care of his horses. However, records from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office revealed expired veterinary documentation and signs of injury and neglect in the horses.

Bertheau’s trip came to an end in Spokane, rather than reaching Seattle as planned. He shared the news on Instagram and listed his horses for sale on a website, emphasizing their reliability and courage.

Currently, Bertheau is seeking $60,000 for the horses and is open to trade offers involving automobiles and real estate.
