Home and Away Actress Sophie Dillman Opens Up About Disliking Daily Bikini Use on Set: Tearful Reaction to Seeing Herself in Swimsuit

Former Home and Away star Sophie Dillman recently opened up about her difficulties with wearing bikinis on set. In a candid column for Yahoo Lifestyle, the 30-year-old actress revealed that she “hated” wearing bikinis every day during her time on the popular Australian soap.

Dillman, who portrayed the character Ziggy Astoni, shared that one of the most common questions she receives is how she managed to film in a bikini regularly. She explained that while the process of putting on a swimsuit was similar to any other costume change, it did come with its own set of challenges.

The actress recalled feeling self-conscious about her body, knowing that she didn’t fit the typical size 8 often depicted in the media. On her first day coming out of the surf, she faced an audience of fans, crew members, paparazzi, fellow actors, and countless onlookers. Despite trying to maintain a cool demeanor, she confessed that she felt extremely uncomfortable inside.

Although advised against looking up candid photos or reading articles about herself, Dillman admitted that she couldn’t resist the temptation. When she finally saw those pictures, she was overcome with emotions and ended up crying for days.

In a previous interview with Who magazine, Dillman expressed her belief in enjoying life and not restricting oneself with diets. She emphasized the importance of balance and moderation in one’s approach to food. However, due to her endometriosis, she has to be mindful of her gluten and dairy intake, as they often trigger pain.

During the lockdown when gyms were closed, Dillman turned to fitness trainer Kate Ivey’s DediKate app and started doing high-intensity 20-minute workouts. She also incorporated online boxing classes, regular walks with her dog, and even ocean swimming into her fitness routine.

To manage her endometriosis, Dillman enlisted the help of a team of specialists, including a gynaecologist, physiotherapist, and naturopath. Together, they work on strategies to alleviate her symptoms and improve her overall well-being.

Earlier this year, Dillman and her boyfriend Patrick O’Connor, who played Dean Thompson on Home and Away, left the show to embark on a journey through Europe. They have decided to stay abroad, with Dillman expressing her desire to pursue a career in theatre in the UK.

Overall, Dillman’s honest portrayal of her struggles with wearing bikinis and managing her health serves as a reminder that even celebrities face insecurities and challenges. Her message of self-acceptance and finding a healthy balance is relatable and inspiring to many.
