H&M Introduces New Policy: Online Purchase Returns Now Come with a Small Fee, Making Waves in UK Fashion Retail

H&M, the Swedish retail giant, has joined the trend of charging customers for returning unwanted items purchased online. In an effort to offset the costs associated with processing returns, the fashion chain will charge £1.99 for returns that are not damaged or faulty. This charge will be deducted from the customer’s refund, unless they sign up for H&M’s free membership loyalty program.

Several other fashion retailers, including Zara, New Look, Boohoo, Uniqlo, and Next, have already implemented similar return charges due to the rising costs of handling and delivering returned items. However, some brands like Asos and Marks & Spencer still offer free returns to attract more customers.

H&M has been charging for returns in the UK since this summer and plans to expand this practice to more markets in the near future. The company aims to reduce the rate of returns by encouraging customers to find the right size and fit from the start.
