Hilary Farr, Host of ‘Love It or List It,’ Set to Depart After 12 Years

After an incredible 12 years as co-host of HGTV’s “Love It or List It,” the talented Hilary Farr is preparing for a new chapter in her career.

“I’ve dedicated so many years of my life to this,” the renowned interior designer stated exclusively to People magazine on Friday. “It has been a source of strength during difficult times, for me and the audience. It has become a staple in people’s lives and has been incredibly rewarding. But now, it’s time for me to seek out new challenges.”

She explained, “This show has seen me through a divorce, cancer, my son’s marriage, and the birth of my three grandchildren.”

According to HGTV’s press release on Friday, Farr has appeared in over 200 episodes since the show’s debut in 2011. She also hosted two seasons of “Tough Love with Hilary Farr” on the network.

Of course, her co-host, real estate agent David Visentin, is a significant consideration. In her statement to People, she likened him to a “younger brother, most annoying and obnoxious.” Despite this, she expressed that there will be a lot she will miss about working with him.

“David and I will remain friends forever, and I expect him to be as fabulously and hilariously annoying as ever,” Farr said in HGTV’s statement.

“Working with Hilary has been an unforgettable, thrilling experience,” Visentin’s statement says. “Although we were competitors on the show, we quickly became friends, and we have countless memories both on and off the set. I look forward to maintaining that friendship and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

“I can’t wait to share what’s next — stay tuned!” Farr wrote in an Instagram post announcing the news on Friday.

She told People, “I’ve grown as a designer, as a person, and I have come to appreciate the value of love and friendship. Every season and episode has been a challenge. That’s what I love.”
