Hewlett Packard Enterprise Galway Expansion: 150 New Jobs to be Created

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced plans to recruit a diverse team of professionals for their newly formed hybrid cloud business unit. The roles available include architects, software engineers, project managers, researchers, user experience engineers, security specialists, test engineers, data analysts, and artificial intelligence (AI) professionals.

The team will be based at HPE’s global center of excellence for the GreenLake cloud platform in Galway, Ireland. GreenLake currently supports 27,000 customers and powers over 3.4 million connected devices.

Despite job cuts announced by parent company HP Inc, HPE’s expansion in Ireland demonstrates a vote of confidence in the country’s talent pool. The Irish cloud computing team will be led by Fidelma Russo, HPE’s Chief Technology Officer, who began her career as an engineer in Ireland in the 1980s.

Commenting on the expansion, Russo said, “The new center of excellence in Galway will help Hewlett Packard Enterprise realize its vision and shape the future experience of the HPE GreenLake platform.”

The announcement has been well-received, with Enterprise Minister Simon Coveney expressing his delight and praises Ireland’s growing tech hub. IDA Ireland CEO Michael Lohan also commends HPE’s investment, emphasizing its positive contributions to the Irish economy.

This announcement follows the news of Intel’s plans to create 1,500 jobs at its new manufacturing plant in Leixlip, County Kildare. Medical device manufacturer Freudenberg Medical has also revealed its intention to create 100 jobs at its expanded facility in Spiddal, County Galway.
