Guilt or Grief? Unveiling the Trial of a Notorious Grief Book Author Accused of Witness Tampering in Husband’s Mysterious Demise

A Utah mother is facing new charges of witness tampering after a handwritten letter was discovered in her jail cell. The six-page letter, allegedly written by Kouri Richins, outlines a plan to falsely claim that her late husband was a regular drug user who obtained the fentanyl that killed him while in Mexico. The letter asks her brother to tell her attorney about a conversation they had where the husband admitted to buying drugs from Mexico. It also instructs her mother to not be seen with them in public and to avoid any communication that could implicate them. State prosecutors have filed the letter in court, accusing Richins of witness tampering. Richins’ attorney argues that this violates a gag order and taints the potential jury pool. A trial date has not been set for Richins, who has been behind bars since May on charges of aggravated murder and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
