Greene Disrupts Democrat’s Accusation of GOP Abortion Hypocrisy: A Riveting Political Showdown

In a fiery exchange during a coronavirus subcommittee hearing on the erosion of the doctor-patient relationship, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) interrupted Rep. Jill Tokuda (D-Hawaii) as she accused her Republican colleagues of hypocrisy on the issue of abortion.

Tokuda criticized her Republican counterparts for convening a hearing on government overreach into the doctor-patient relationship while their party is actively pushing for restrictions and bans on abortion across the country. She pointed out that since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, extreme Republican lawmakers have been rushing to pass dangerous laws, ignoring the majority opinion of Americans.

During her speech, Tokuda referred to a medical journal that recognizes abortion as an essential component of women’s healthcare. Before she could finish her sentence, Greene interjected with an off-mic remark, stating, “It’s murdering babies” and “It’s murdering the unborn.”

The Republican subcommittee chair called for order and reminded everyone that Tokuda had the right to speak without interruption. While Greene remained silent for the rest of Tokuda’s remarks, she later restated her position during her own speaking time.

Greene expressed her disapproval of Democrats using the hearing to discuss what she believes is the murder of unborn children, emphasizing that abortion is not healthcare but rather an act of murder. She also criticized the COVID-related shutdowns, asserting that healthcare professionals should prioritize saving lives instead of restricting freedoms.
