Grab the Mic at J.J. Rafferty’s: Unmissable Music Bar for Suburban Vibes!

COLONIE — J.J. Rafferty’s Bar & Grill, a popular establishment in Latham known for its entertainment and vibrant atmosphere, is set to close soon as the owners enter retirement. For over 20 years, this bar has been a favorite spot for the suburban crowd, offering live bands, DJs, and karaoke nights.

An announcement was posted on Facebook on Monday, stating, “Our last weekend!” It mentioned that there would be karaoke on Thursday and live bands on Friday and Saturday this week. However, an employee clarified that while this would be the final weekend for booking bands, the exact closing date has yet to be determined.

A representative, contacted via email, mentioned that the final day of service would be determined on Thursday, and the business plans to release a statement regarding its closure plans.

“One of the owners was ready to retire,” the representative explained. They also revealed that the property, located at 847 Loudon Road and available for sale since April, has an asking price of $875,000. The building, constructed in 1983 and spanning 2,756 square feet, sits on a half-acre lot between Latham Circle and a retail plaza housing Market Bistro and Hobby Lobby. Additionally, the building is offered fully furnished and equipped or vacant for repurposing. It is also available for lease with a minimum term of 10 years, as indicated in the listing.

Singer Donna Tritico, from the Donna Tritico Band, expressed her sadness about the bar’s closure. Her band is scheduled to perform on Saturday, becoming the final act at Rafferty’s. Although they started playing there earlier this year, this upcoming gig will be their fourth at the bar.

Donna’s husband, Mark Tritico, who plays drums in the band, praised the staff, describing them as friendly and accommodating. He also mentioned that the bar attracts a great crowd who truly appreciate live music.

J.J. Rafferty’s Bar & Grill was established around 2000, taking over from a nightclub called Miracles, which had operated for more than 15 years. The owners, Margret and Jim Baggetta, along with Joe Taylor, have successfully implemented a similar concept at their other venues, J.T. Maxie’s in Colonie and Peddlers Bar & Bistro in Clifton Park.
