A breathtaking view of a basketball can be witnessed during the SBP test event for the Fiba World Cup 2023-hosting at the iconic Smart Araneta Coliseum. The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) is going above and beyond to provide an exceptional experience for fans attending the Gilas Pilipinas’ Fiba World Cup opening game against the Dominican Republic on August 25 at the magnificent Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
With the goal of setting a new attendance record on the opening day, the tournament organizers have announced the availability of 400 point-to-point (P2P) shuttle buses, completely free of charge, for opening day ticket holders. These shuttle buses will be available at 12 strategic take-off points located in Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Bulacan.
The Philippine team, Gilas Pilipinas, will be led by the talented Filipino-American Jordan Clarkson, known for his incredible performances as part of the Utah Jazz. On the other hand, the Dominican Republic team will showcase the skills of Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
It is worth noting that the Philippines is determined to break the highest attendance record in a Fiba World Cup game, which currently stands at 32,616 fans during the 1994 finals in Toronto, Canada. This record-breaking match witnessed the USA, led by the legendary Shaquille O’Neal, secure the gold medal against Russia.
To ensure a smooth transportation experience for fans, the SBP has arranged to deploy 400 premium-grade, air-conditioned buses, each with a capacity of 49 seats, from various boarding terminals such as the PITX Bus Terminal, Mall of Asia Arena, One Ayala Bus Terminal, BGC Market Market Bus Terminal, SM Megamall, Araneta City, Trinoma, SM North, Clover Leaf Ayala Mall Bus Terminal, SM Baliuag, SM Pampanga, and SM Clark. The buses will depart every hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., allowing fans to choose their preferred pick-up location and time of departure by visiting https://bit.ly/3rNFIR4.
In addition to the complimentary shuttle bus rides, ticket holders for the opening day will also be delighted to receive a coupon for a free Jollibee Cheesy Yumburger upon presentation of their tickets at the gate. Once inside the venue, fans will be treated to an assortment of Fiba Basketball World Cup 2023 merchandise, including scarves, fan clappers, and rally towels, which will be distributed to patrons in the different sections. Furthermore, special LED wristbands will be provided to every spectator, creating a captivating lights show that will unite the entire arena in an extraordinary experience.
Adding to the excitement of the event, renowned artists such as Asia’s Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo, The Dawn, and Ben & Ben will perform captivating performances during breaks in the quadruple header, providing spectators with an unforgettable concert experience.
