Authorities in Pasadena made a startling discovery when they stopped a U-Haul truck on the street. Inside the truck, police found an AR-15 rifle, two loaded high-capacity magazines, and body armor. The incident occurred at 3:55 a.m. on Friday after officers responded to a minor collision at Claremont Street and Wilson Avenue.
Upon approaching the driver, who was found asleep in the driver’s seat, officers noticed a handgun in his waistband. They woke him up and asked him to exit the vehicle. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Marc Oliver David of Carson, attempted to flee on foot but was swiftly apprehended after a short pursuit. Police recovered the 9mm pistol during his capture.
A subsequent search of the U-Haul truck revealed the aforementioned AR-15 rifle, two loaded high-capacity magazines, and body armor. The department’s Street Crime Unit conducted follow-up investigations at three locations associated with the suspect but did not find any additional items of evidentiary value.
David was booked on multiple felony charges, including weapons and narcotics violations, as well as no-bail arrest warrants, according to the police.
