George Kittle praises Brock Purdy’s resilient performance in 49ers’ victory – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —The San Francisco 49ers’ 34-3 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium turned out to be a breakthrough game for quarterback Brock Purdy.

Undoubtedly, his remarkable performance didn’t come as a surprise to teammate George Kittle.

Purdy displayed almost a flawless game, connecting on 19 of 26 pass attempts for 296 yards and three passing touchdowns, which resulted in an impressive 149.8 rating. Furthermore, he demonstrated exceptional ball distribution, completing passes to seven different targets.

“I just go back to this,” Kittle said. “Brock started like 40-plus games in college. He had the highest of highs, he’s had the lowest of lows. He’s dealt with mistakes. He’s had bad games in college.

“His confidence is still there, and that’s all I wanted him to continue doing. He knows how to bounce back.”

Purdy remained composed throughout the three-game skid and made amends for a few lapses in judgment that led to turnovers. The young play-caller threw five interceptions during the skid after eight clean games at the start of the season.

Samuel didn’t mince words on his opinion about his teammate’s recent performances.“I don’t think Brock played poorly the last couple games,” Kittle said. “Sure, there’s a throw or two he probably wants to redo, but he’s still been performing at a high level these past few weeks that we lost.”

“This time, we were able to avoid turning the ball over and committing penalties, so we were able to showcase the type of quarterback Brock is.”

Kittle was a standout receiver for Purdy this past Sunday, catching three of four targets for 116 yards and a touchdown, marking his fourth touchdown of the season with the second-highest yard total

Purdy and the 49ers’ offense did not commit a single turnover, and their outstanding performance was complemented by the defensive side, which forced four takeaways. While acknowledging plays they would want to take back, the group has a month’s worth of game films to go over and is eager to learn from their performance as they head back to Santa Clara.
