It has been revealed that Gabourey Sidibe’s activities during the pandemic were more extensive than previously known.
Apart from getting engaged, the Oscar-nominated actress secretly tied the knot over a year ago.
This “breaking news” was disclosed during a lively interview on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” on Monday, where Sidibe shared further details about her husband Brandon Frankel’s proposal in late 2020 and their secret wedding in March 2021.
During the conversation, Sidibe explained to the hosts, “The thing about weddings is I don’t like them. I don’t like them. Here’s an example of how much I don’t like them: I’m actually married. We got married over a year ago.”
This revelation left Ryan Seacrest “confused,” while Kelly Ripa questioned if it was truly “breaking news.”
Frankel, an entertainment business executive, was present in the audience and confirmed the news by raising his hand to display a bejeweled ring finger.
Sidibe further shared that their wedding took place “at the kitchen table,” and it was an intimate ceremony with just the two of them.
However, she did mention that they plan to have a larger wedding in the future to please her mother-in-law. Her dislike for weddings stems from the fact that her own mother was a wedding singer, and she often found herself attending weddings without an invitation.
Frankel took to Instagram on Monday to share a series of pictures showcasing their rings and publicly announce, “SURPRISE! I can finally call her my WIFE!”
Following Sidibe’s revelation on “Live,” Frankel expressed relief in being able to share their marriage with the world, stating, “So thankful to have found my forever person, my partner-in-crime, and the love of my life. Every day is the best day with you. Nobody I would rather raise cats with and be in bed by a smooth 8pm with. Love you forever.”
