Frito-Lay, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, is issuing a recall for a “limited number” of its Doritos potato chips due to packaging that fails to disclose common allergens, as reported by federal health officials. The recall is voluntary and affects certain 14.5-ounce and 1-ounce bags of Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips. These chips may contain undeclared soy and wheat ingredients from spicy sweet chili tortilla chips. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has posted a recall notice regarding this issue.
The recall is precautionary, as no allergic reactions related to the affected products have been reported thus far. However, individuals who are allergic or sensitive to soy or wheat face the risk of illness if they consume these chips. Frito-Lay advises such individuals not to consume the product and to dispose of it immediately.
No further comments were provided by representatives of Frito-Lay in response to FOX Business’ request for more information on the matter.
The recalled products were distributed to retail stores in Pennsylvania, as well as other locations such as food service establishments and vending machines. These products have been available since June 29.
The recall only affects fewer than 7,000 bags of chips. Other Frito-Lay or Doritos products are not included in the recall, according to the FDA notice.
