Fox Corp. Chief Legal and Policy Officer Viet Dinh will step down from his position. This decision comes several months after the company settled with Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million.

Dinh’s departure follows his legal counsel during the contentious legal battle with Dominion Voting Systems. Although the trial was avoided with the April settlement, the company continues to face the consequences.

Dominion filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox, claiming that its networks deliberately and falsely implicated the company in the 2020 election loss of former President Donald Trump to President Joe Biden. The lawsuit accused Fox of airing baseless claims that Dominion’s machines manipulated the election results.

While Fox agreed to the settlement, its hosts were not obligated to discuss the lawsuit or issue a public apology for their on-air statements.

Shortly after the settlement, Fox removed primetime host Tucker Carlson, who subsequently launched his own show on X, the rebranded website formerly known as Twitter. Jesse Watters now occupies the same primetime slot once held by Carlson.

Both Carlson and Dinh were among the Fox anchors and executives questioned during the legal proceedings. Numerous records, including depositions, emails, and texts, were made public prior to the settlement.

Prior to the trial, Dominion sought to compel Fox’s top executives, including Dinh, to testify in person. The presiding judge stated that he had the authority to require their appearance in the weeks leading up to the trial.

Dinh assumed his role as Chief Legal and Policy Officer of Fox in 2018 and has been responsible for all legal, compliance, and regulatory matters, as well as government affairs.

He will officially step down on December 31 and transition into a special advisory role for the company.

“We express our gratitude for Viet’s significant contributions and service to FOX, both as a board member of 21st Century Fox and in his five-year tenure as a valuable member of FOX’s leadership team,” said Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch in a press release. “We are fortunate to have him continue serving FOX as a Special Advisor, where we can benefit from his guidance.”
