Former NFL Player Fatal in Motorcycle Accident

Former NFL running back Alex Collins tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Sunday. The 28-year-old, originally from Florida, had played for the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens from 2016 to 2021. The accident occurred in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, around 10:20pm Sunday when Collins collided with an SUV that was making a left turn. According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the impact was so severe that Collins was propelled into the rear passenger-side window of the Chevrolet and ultimately came to rest inside the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Collins’ family released a statement on Monday through the Seahawks, as reported by CNN.

“Alex was deeply loved by his family, friends, and supporters from across the globe,” the statement read. “Those who truly knew him can attest to his unwavering determination, infectious personality, and magnetic presence.” The Ravens also expressed their condolences, stating, “He always greeted everyone with a smile and carried a unique sense of joy and passion.” The team’s head coach John Harbaugh fondly remembered Collins as a “bright light” and praised his exceptional spirit and commitment on the field. Even the University of Arkansas paid tribute to Collins, noting his remarkable career as a running back, where he ranks second only to Darren McFadden in rushing yards, according to the AP. Collins most recently played for the Memphis Showboats in the USFL. (Read more motorcycle crash stories.)
