Federal prosecutors assert that Eberhart, a Republican from Shelbyville who represented the General Assembly from 2007 to 2022, influenced a key gaming bill in 2019 to benefit casino operator Spectacle Entertainment. Allegedly, the favor came in exchange for the guarantee of a $350,000 per year job.
Notably, Eberhart joins others associated with Spectacle who have faced legal consequences. In 2020, two other state lawmakers admitted guilt tied to an alleged straw donor scheme involving New Centaur LLC, Spectacle’s predecessor.
