Norse Atlantic Airways is an up-and-coming European budget airline aiming to revive the era of affordable transatlantic travel that existed before the pandemic. Previous airlines, such as WOW Air from Iceland and Norwegian Air Shuttle, have attempted this business model using widebody aircraft, often packing as many as 344 passengers onboard.
However, sustaining this plan proved to be challenging, and WOW Air ceased operations in March 2019, even before the pandemic. Norwegian, on the other hand, couldn’t withstand the impact of COVID-19 and had to reduce its long-haul flights in January 2021. Nonetheless, Norwegian continues to operate a fleet of Boeing 737 narrowbody aircraft for European flights.
A handful of other European airlines still serve the low-cost transatlantic market, including French bee, LEVEL from Spain, and newcomer Norse Atlantic Airways. These airlines offer no-frills service and feature economy and premium economy cabins.
Having already experienced flights with French bee and LEVEL, I was curious to see how Norse Atlantic Airways compared. I recently flew with them from Paris to New York-JFK on their Dreamliner aircraft with an eight-hour economy class ticket priced at $500. Here’s my review:
