A Rare and Priceless 2016 Twilight Purple Rolls-Royce Wraith Stolen and Recovered in Florida

A Florida resident, Bob Benyo, was devastated when his wife’s one-of-a-kind 2016 Rolls-Royce Wraith was stolen from their garage. This luxurious car, painted in a stunning Twilight Purple shade, is an incredibly rare find. According to Benyo, there are only about six similar models in the entire country. The distinctive color of the car makes it impossible to miss, and that’s what made its disappearance even more heartbreaking for Benyo and his wife.

On September 21st, while Benyo’s wife was arriving home with their two young children, they were followed by two individuals. The thieves parked their silver Mercedes across the street, right in front of their neighbor’s house, hoping to stay unnoticed. The criminals took advantage of the moment when one of the three garage doors closed, sneaked into the garage, and orchestrated the theft. Benyo’s security cameras caught their every move. To Benyo’s horror, he later discovered that the suspects were armed and that his wife and children were in a room adjacent to the garage, with only one door separating them from the robbers.

Once the incident was reported to the local law enforcement authorities and Rolls-Royce itself, Benyo decided to take matters into his own hands. Being the owner of an aerial banner company, he had a unique way of spreading messages. Benyo used one of his planes to tow a banner that asked the citizens of Miami-Dade County a simple question: “Have you seen this stolen purple Rolls-Royce? Reward offered.” The message included a phone number for anyone with information to contact Benyo.

The response was overwhelming. Benyo was flooded with about 310 calls and messages, with approximately 100 of them being credible tips. People from all over reached out to him, sending their well wishes and hoping for the safe return of the luxury car. There were, of course, a few negative comments here and there, but overall, the support was incredible.

Days of painstaking searching, negotiations with the perpetrators (who were already being pursued for other crimes), and sifting through tips led Benyo to his first promising lead: someone was advertising the stolen Rolls-Royce for rent on Telegram. Benyo teamed up with private investigators and the person who provided the tip to devise a plan to recover the car himself.

After infiltrating the chat, Benyo revealed his true identity as the owner and pleaded with the thief to park and abandon the car without involving the police. The criminal initially resisted, suspecting a trap. Benyo tried to lighten the situation by joking that, next time, the thief should consider stealing a black Rolls-Royce that would blend in better. But the negotiations went nowhere.

Just before midnight, Benyo received another tip. A woman renting an Airbnb in Fort Lauderdale had spotted the stolen car parked outside her window in a complicated neighborhood full of winding streets. She assisted in the car’s recovery, and the police confirmed her innocence in the case. Benyo rewarded her for her help.

The car suffered minimal damage, including a broken window and some scratches, which will be repaired. Benyo is confident that the suspects will be apprehended soon, as the police claim to know their identities and are closing in on them.

The incident was a wake-up call for Benyo and his family, who now take extra precautions to safeguard their valuables. They store their car keys in a locked box and have installed a reliable alarm system.

Despite the ordeal, Benyo highlights the silver lining of the situation: the incredible outpouring of support he received from people all across Miami-Dade County, Fort Lauderdale, and the entire country. Strangers reached out to him, expressing sympathy and hoping for the safe return of his car. Even to this day, he continues to receive random messages from well-wishers.

Insider reached out to the North Miami Police Department for comment, but they did not immediately respond.
