June 16 (UPI) — A passionate hobbyist from Florida, Scott Erbele, has been recognized by the Guinness World Records for amassing the largest collection of dalmatian-related memorabilia, consisting of an astonishing 1,152 items.

Erbele’s fondness for dalmatians started when he was young, as his parents gifted him a dalmatian lamp in 1954. His admiration grew during his adolescence, when he started idolizing firefighters.

“In 1963, my parents purchased a house in Silver Spring, Maryland, conveniently located across the street from the volunteer fire station,” Erbele revealed to Guinness World Records. “Whenever the alerting siren sounded, I would eagerly rush to the firehouse, answering calls and opening the doors for the arriving firefighters.”

Erbele later became a firefighter himself during his teenage years.

“Upon turning 16, I became a member. Over the years, I progressed through the ranks and even served as Deputy Chief and president of the department. Although I am now an inactive life member, firefighting remains an integral part of who I am,” he elaborated.

From 1975 to 1997, he also pursued a career as a professional firefighter in Arlington County, Virginia.

Erbele reminisced on filling his initial cabinet with dalmatian collectibles in the early 2000s, and today, his collection has expanded to occupy multiple cabinets throughout his home.

His assortment includes plush toys, figurines, Christmas decorations, and valuable artworks, such as a pair of Thomas Kinkade prints valued at approximately $2,000 each.

“I am certain that at some point, my collection will outnumber me. In that case, I will simply begin anew. Since setting the record in February, I have effortlessly acquired another 50 items. It’s simply delightful! Somehow, I must rein in this obsession. I can’t get enough of these spots,” he exclaimed.
