Aug. 10 (UPI) — A fascinating encounter unfolded for a Florida couple when they stumbled upon an unexpected guest in their guest bathroom toilet – an iguana.
Crystal Collins, a resident of Hollywood, shared that she and her husband were initially under the impression that the iguana they discovered languishing in the toilet bowl had met its demise.
“The sounds that emanated from my husband were so comical,” she hilariously disclosed to CBS Miami while recalling the incident. “We even tried to find a recording of it from our home security cameras. It was quite the display of masculinity.”
Despite having spent 26 years in South Florida and her husband growing up in North Miami, neither of them had ever encountered an iguana making its way indoors before.
Collins shared, “We exchanged perplexed glances, wondering how we should handle the situation. I even jokingly suggested burning down the house.”
In the end, Collins and her husband resorted to seeking the assistance of a friend who fortunately proved reptile-friendly.
Collins admitted, “Neither of us are particularly fond of lizards.”
Their friend creatively employed a garbage bag to safely remove the live iguana from the toilet, ensuring its freedom in the great outdoors.
Reflecting on this peculiar incident, Collins concluded, “We were relieved to bid farewell to the unexpected visitor.”
