First-generation iPhone fetches $190K at auction, nearly 380-fold increase from its original price

An original iPhone from 2007 was recently sold at auction for a whopping $190,373, a significant increase from its original price of $499. The 4GB model, which was discontinued shortly after its release due to customer preference for the larger 8GB version, is considered 20 times rarer than the latter.

LCG Auctions, the host of the sale, expressed excitement about the record-breaking sale and the new standard that was set. “A new bar was set Sunday night,” said Mark Montero, founder of LCG Auctions.
