First discussions between Hollywood writers on strike and studios scheduled after 3-month hiatus – National

Hollywood’s writers and major studios have agreed to hold talks on Friday, marking the first conversation since the writers’ strike began in May. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) announced this development on Tuesday, stating that the negotiations were prompted by a meeting request from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

The WGA negotiating committee informed its members that further information would be provided after the meeting. The AMPTP represents major studios such as Walt Disney, Netflix, and Warner Bros Discovery.

An AMPTP spokesperson stated that the alliance is committed to reaching a mutually beneficial deal. However, no further details were provided. The strike by approximately 11,500 writers has caused the cancellation of new episodes, disrupted fall TV production, and halted work on big-budget movies.
