Finding ‘peace’ in the six months following his passing

Six months have passed since the tragic death of Stephen “tWitch” Boss, and his mother, Connie Boss Alexander, has now opened up about finding peace amidst her grief. In an interview with People, Alexander shared that she actively avoids fixating on her son’s suicide. Instead, she focuses on the belief that his departure from this world is not the end, finding solace in this perspective. She fondly remembers Boss as someone who was always smiling and willing to embrace new experiences. Alexander expressed the conflicting emotions she feels since his passing, as it sometimes feels like just yesterday she saw him, while other times it feels like an eternity since they were together.

Reflecting on her son’s depression, Alexander admits her concern that she may have missed the warning signs. She considers the revelation of his struggle with mental health after his death to be shocking. Acceptance of his untimely passing remains elusive for her at this point, with realization being her current state of understanding. Boss’ wife, Allison Holker, also revealed that he had intentionally kept his mental health struggles hidden from others. Alexander acknowledges that some days are harder than others, and she often has the impulse to call him, only to remember that he is no longer physically present. However, she finds comfort in hearing his voice in her head, reassuring her that he is okay.

Holker and Boss had three children together, with Holker’s eldest child being adopted by Boss. Talking to their children about their father’s death has been exceptionally challenging for Holker, as she mentioned in a previous interview on the “Today” show. Despite the difficulties, Holker emphasizes the importance of open communication in navigating this grieving process. To cope with the loss, Holker and the children view their dad as being among the stars, allowing them to have conversations with him whenever they wish. Their children often ask when their father will return, and Holker finds it difficult to provide an answer.

After months of speculation, the recent autopsy results confirmed that there were no drugs or alcohol in Boss’ system at the time of his death. In January, the family held a private funeral to honor and remember him.
