It is now public knowledge that Jerome Powell, the leader of the U.S. Federal Reserve, the most influential central bank globally, is a fan of the Grateful Dead.

While Jerome Powell may not resemble Jerry Garcia, the famous musician, he evidently appreciates the music of the Dead and enjoys moments of relaxation when he can.

On June 3, Powell was spotted attending a Dead & Company concert in Bristow, Virginia. His presence at the show caused quite a stir on Twitter and generated considerable attention on social media.

At the recent post-meeting press conference, nobody had the audacity to inquire about Powell’s concert expedition. However, the topic did eventually arise during Powell’s address to lawmakers on the House Financial Services Committee.

Representative Wiley Nickel (D-N.C.) expressed his excitement upon discovering Powell’s attendance at the show and inquired about his impressions.

Powell responded, “It was exceptional. What can I say? I have been a Grateful Dead fan for five decades.”

According to online reports, the concert must have been an absolute blast as the band played beloved classics like “Brown-Eyed Women,” “Uncle John’s Band,” and “Deal.” They also treated the audience to special performances of “One More Saturday Night” and the Beatles’ “Dear Prudence,” which they had not played earlier in the tour.

The discussion during the committee meeting on Wednesday fostered a sense of camaraderie among Powell, Nickel, and a few other committee members who revealed their fondness for the Grateful Dead.

“I appreciate individuals who share an appreciation for the Grateful Dead,” remarked Representative Wiley Nickel.
