FBI Agents Shoot Man Accused of Threatening Biden

An individual from Utah who allegedly threatened President Biden and other officials was fatally shot by FBI agents at his residence in Provo. The incident took place at around 6:15am local time, just hours before the president’s scheduled visit to the state on Wednesday. According to NBC News, the agents were attempting to serve arrest and search warrants when the shooting occurred. The man has been identified as Craig Deleeuw Robertson, as stated in charging documents. On Monday, Robertson made a threatening post on social media, mentioning the president’s visit and referencing a sniper rifle and a Ghille suit, as reported in a criminal complaint.

The complaint describes the social media post as a “willful true threat to kill or cause injury to kill President Biden,” according to ABC. The complaint states that Robertson is facing three counts, including interstate threats, threats against the president, and influencing, impeding, and retaliating against federal law enforcement officers by threat. In addition, it is revealed by Fox 13 that Robertson had previously threatened to kill New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who is leading the state criminal investigation of Donald Trump. Among the numerous social media posts submitted as evidence, Robertson expressed his desire to shoot Bragg in the forehead and witness his death.

In one of his posts, Robertson wrote, “I’ll be waiting in the courthouse parking garage with my suppressed Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm to smoke a radical fool prosecutor that should never have been elected.” He also shared photos of his firearms and fantasized about killing various officials, including Attorney General Merrick Garland. Following a conversation with FBI agents in March, he posted that the agents were unaware of how close they had come to “violent eradication.” It is unclear whether he was armed during the FBI’s visit to his residence on Wednesday. The FBI has stated that the shooting is currently under review by its Inspection Division, and no further details can be provided at this time. (Read more Utah stories.)
