Father Receives Bone-Chilling Text from Daughter Found in Trash Bag under Bed

The father of an 11-year-old girl from Texas, Maria Gonzalez, made a heartbreaking discovery on Saturday when he found her strangled and sexually assaulted body under her bed. Before her tragic death, Maria had sent her father an alarming message. Carmelo Gonzalez immediately contacted the police and reported the gruesome finding. Police Chief Josh Bruegger shared this information during a press conference on Tuesday.

Maria’s body was wrapped in a garbage bag and stuffed in a laundry basket. The investigation revealed that there was no sign of forced entry into the apartment. Bruegger described the incident as “brutal,” as it was determined that Maria had died from strangulation and was sexually assaulted prior to her death.

According to Gonzalez, he had received a text from his daughter shortly after he left for work that morning, informing him that a stranger was knocking at the front door. Sadly, this message would be the last communication he had with his daughter.

Concerned for Maria’s safety, Gonzalez reached out to family members who lived in the same apartment building to check on her. However, they were unable to locate her. Gonzalez returned from work around 3 p.m. and tragically found his daughter’s lifeless body.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the police have yet to identify a potential suspect. Bruegger stated that Gonzalez and Maria were Guatemalan immigrants who had recently moved to the Pasadena apartment. The young girl had not yet enrolled in the public school system.

In an interview with local news outlet KHOU, Gonzalez described his daughter as a quiet girl who had recently celebrated her 11th birthday with neighbors. The apartment building is described as quiet, with a close-knit Guatemalan community.

Neighbor Shannon Arteche expressed sympathy for the family and an urge for justice in an interview with local news outlet KTRK. However, Bruegger noted that some community members were hesitant to cooperate with the police due to their immigration status. He emphasized that solving the case and ensuring community safety are the top priorities, regardless of immigration status.

Despite the challenges in the investigation, many neighbors have voluntarily offered their DNA samples to assist the police in their efforts. The authorities remain determined to bring justice to Maria Gonzalez and her grieving family.
