A motorist tragically lost their life in an early morning single-vehicle accident at the Port of Long Beach.
The unidentified individual passed away at the crash site, which occurred around 3:10 a.m. on Highway 47 near Ocean Boulevard, as confirmed by the Long Beach Police Department.
Out of respect for the family, authorities have chosen not to release the victim’s name until their relatives have been notified.
Upon immediate response, law enforcement discovered an overturned vehicle with the driver, an adult male, partially ejected from the car,” stated police in an official statement.
According to the initial investigation, the incident involved a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer traveling southbound on Highway 47 at an excessive speed,” revealed police. “The vehicle proceeded through the intersection at Ocean Boulevard and entered an exit ramp leading to a shipping terminal. Subsequently, the car collided with cement barriers and flipped over.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, nor were there any passengers in the vehicle,” noted the authorities. “At this time, it is suspected that speeding and impaired driving contributed to the collision.”
