‘Fantastic Fest’ to Feature Premieres of Prequel ‘Pet Sematary: Toxic Avenger’

Aug. 15 (UPI) — Fantastic Fest unveiled its initial lineup of films for the upcoming festival in a grand announcement on Tuesday. Scheduled for September 21-28, the festival will take place in Austin, Texas, as well as in a virtual format.

Some of the highly anticipated films that will premiere at Fantastic Fest include the supernatural horror movie Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, the remake of The Toxic Avenger, featuring the talented Peter Dinklage, the gripping time travel horror flick Totally Killer, and the intriguing titles The Creator, Eileen, The Origin, 30 Coins, V/H/S/85, and the first two episodes of Fall of the House of Usher.

Another noteworthy addition to the festival is a newly edited version of the controversial epic Caligula, now spanning a remarkable 171 minutes. Additionally, the film Your Lucky Day serves as the final performance of Angus Cloud, who tragically passed away on July 31.

In a fascinating turn of events, acclaimed actor Giovani Ribisi makes his directorial debut as the cinematographer of the thought-provoking film Strange Darling. Furthermore, the documentary Enter the Clones of Bruce provides an in-depth look at the martial artists tasked with emulating the late Bruce Lee following his demise.

The People’s Joker, which faced legal action from Warner Bros. following its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, will also be showcased at Fantastic Fest in Austin after being screened at Outfest in Los Angeles. Moreover, the documentary Kim’s Video, which made its debut at Sundance in January, is set to captivate audiences at the festival.
