Fans of Sir Elton John Prepare for His Glastonbury Performance by Forming an Early Morning Queue

The renowned musician and Tiny Dancer singer, Sir Elton John, aged 76, will be the closing act at the festival. His performance will include special guests who have yet to be announced. One dedicated fan, Gregg Rathbone from Coventry, arrived at the Pyramid Stage as early as 4 am on Sunday morning. He observed the crew clearing the leftover rubbish from Guns N’ Roses’ performance before finally being allowed to take his place. Sporting Sir Elton’s classic Dodgers outfit, Rathbone mentioned his affinity for waiting in queues, having previously queued for U2 for days. He explained that being at Glastonbury and seeing Elton perform compelled him to be there early and be first in line.

Another fan, Ben Monk, who arrived three hours later at 7 am, described himself as the third person in the queue and emphasized the significance of seeing Elton John in his last-ever UK performance at Glastonbury. He expressed excitement about the possibility of the Rocket Man singer performing all his classic hits and hinted at a rumored surprise guest.

Claire Bailey, a 32-year-old NHS administrator from Weston-super-Mare, couldn’t contain her love for Elton. Attending Glastonbury for the first time, she eagerly awaited his performance and intended to stay put to keep her spot. She recounted standing for 11 hours during Guns N’ Roses’ performance the day before and was prepared to do the same for Elton John. Equipped with sun cream, a cooling towel, and water, she planned to spend her entire day at the festival. She praised the festival staff for their care and provision of water to attendees.

Similarly, Dora Szita, a 34-year-old data analyst from London, admitted to initially purchasing her tickets solely for Elton John. She recognized the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness his last UK concert and was willing to sacrifice sleep for a front-row Glastonbury experience. Her most anticipated moment was hearing the iconic track Tiny Dancer and seeing any surprise guests Elton had in store.

Throughout the festival, there were fans dressed in Elton John-inspired outfits, paying homage to the legendary musician. Among them was Alex McGuire from Taunton, who had crafted a hat resembling the Pyramid Stage with a miniature Elton John on top.
