Fans Knock Baseball Star to Ground

Ronald Acuña is on the verge of accomplishing a feat that no other baseball player has achieved before. However, during a game in Denver, two fans took their apparent admiration to an extreme, resulting in an aggressive encounter. As reported by USA Today, the star player from the Atlanta Braves was knocked down by security while trying to subdue the individuals who had invaded the field. Fortunately, Acuña was not injured. The incident occurred as the first fan ran up to Acuña, hugged him, and attempted to take a selfie. During the ensuing struggle, a second, more aggressive fan joined the fray and caused Acuña to be knocked to the ground, according to the Denver Post. You can watch the incident unfold here.

“At first, I was a little scared, but I believe the fans were merely looking for a photo,” Acuña commented after the game, as translated by an interpreter. “Luckily, security was able to intervene, so I think everything is fine. Everyone is safe.” Despite the disturbance caused by the fans, the 25-year-old managed to hit his 29th home run of the season and steal his 60th and 61st bases in the Braves’ decisive 14-4 victory over the Rockies. If he hits one more home run, he will become the first player in history to achieve the remarkable 30/60 milestone. Regarding the incident involving the unruly fans, Atlanta manager Brian Snitker expressed his concern, stating, “It’s never something you want to witness. You never know what these individuals are capable of when they invade the field. It’s a frightening situation,” as reported by WSB-TV. Some reports even suggest that a third fan may have entered the field during the altercation. (Read more baseball fan stories.)
