Famous Personalities Stand in Solidarity with Actors’ Picket Lines in Los Angeles and New York City

  • Following the decision to strike, SAG-AFTRA actors have ceased working on TV and film productions.
  • Since the strike commenced on Friday, numerous actors have expressed their support through statements and acts of solidarity.
  • Jason Sudeikis and Sean Astin, among others, have gone a step further by joining picket lines in both LA and NYC.

On Friday, members of the SAG-AFTRA union, which represents approximately 160,000 workers, initiated a strike after failing to reach a consensus with studios following contract negotiations.

This is the first major walkout in over four decades and coincides with the ongoing strike by the Writers Guild of America (WGA), marking the first time that both unions have been on strike since the 1960s.

Their demands include increased base pay and streaming residuals, as well as assurances regarding the use of AI in the industry.

Throughout the duration of the strike, several actors have demonstrated their support through statements and acts of solidarity.

Eminent actor George Clooney described it as “an inflection point in our industry,” according to Deadline.

“For our industry to survive, change is necessary. The journey towards that change begins now for actors,” he added.

Prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the cast of “Oppenheimer” walked out of the film’s premiere in London to show solidarity.

Furthermore, numerous actors have gone beyond statements and joined picket lines outside major studios like Disney and Paramount in LA and NYC.

From Mandy Moore and Rosario Dawson to Joey King and Jason Sudeikis, discover the Hollywood stars demonstrating their support for the strike.
