Treat Williams passed away due to “severe trauma and blood loss” following a motorcycle crash in June, according to the Vermont State Police.

The 71-year-old actor, renowned for his roles in “Hair” and “Everwood,” tragically lost his life on June 12 when his motorcycle collided with a Honda SUV in Vermont. Williams was rushed to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

In a recent news release, the Vermont police announced that the driver of the Honda vehicle, Ryan Koss (35), has been charged with “grossly negligent” driving. Koss was processed and released on the charge on Tuesday evening, with his arraignment scheduled for September 25.

The state police department previously reported in June that Koss “attempted to turn left into a parking lot,” leading to the collision with Williams. As stated in the release at the time, the actor was unable to avoid the collision and was thrown from his motorcycle.

Williams is best remembered for his portrayal of hippie George Berger in the 1979 musical “Hair,” in which he portrays a US Army draftee who discovers an alternative way of life through Berger’s character. He also had a recurring role in “Chicago Fire” as former firefighter Benny Severide, the father of the main character, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney).

In an interview with People, Williams’ longtime agent Barry McPherson expressed his devastation and described the actor as “the nicest guy” and “so talented.”

“Filmmakers loved him. He’s been at the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s. He was truly proud of his performance this year,” McPherson added. “He’s been incredibly happy with the work I’ve gotten him. He’s had a well-rounded career.”
