Bryan Fuller, a renowned producer and writer known for his work on shows like “Hannibal” and “American Gods,” is facing allegations of sexual harassment and assault in a recently filed lawsuit. The lawsuit claims that Fuller harassed and assaulted a colleague while working as a director on the docuseries “Queer for Fear” last year.

The lawsuit, filed by producer Sam Wineman, accuses Fuller of sexual harassment, retaliation, emotional distress, and other workplace violations that occurred between 2020 and 2022. Wineman is seeking damages from AMC Networks, Shudder, Steakhaus Productions, and other potentially liable parties, alleging that they ignored his concerns and enabled Fuller’s behavior.

According to Wineman’s allegations, Fuller sexually assaulted him multiple times, including instances where he pressed his genitals against Wineman’s buttocks. The complaint also states that Fuller frequently discussed his genitalia and masturbation habits, making it a recurring topic among employees.

Wineman claims that he was removed from the show by a Steakhaus employee in August 2021 after he reported Fuller’s behavior and comments to executives at AMC and Shudder. He also alleges that other employees who supported him were subsequently fired.

“Queer for Fear,” a four-episode documentary that explores the intersection of the LGBTQ+ community and the horror genre, premiered on Shudder last year.

Fuller has been involved in various “Star Trek” projects and is known for creating acclaimed shows like “Pushing Daisies” and “Wonderfalls” in the 2000s. However, his most well-known work is the gruesome and surreal adaptation of Thomas Harris novels, “Hannibal,” featuring the iconic character Hannibal Lecter.

Deadline reported in 2021 that Fuller was set to direct a reboot of Stephen King’s “Christine,” in collaboration with Sony Pictures and Blumhouse. The status of the project is currently unknown as neither company has provided a comment regarding the lawsuit.

In response to the lawsuit, Fuller’s attorney Bryan Freedman issued a statement denying the allegations and suggesting that Wineman would be sued for defamation. Freedman claimed that there is evidence disproving the claims and accused Wineman of fabricating the story as an attempt to extort AMC, Shudder, Steakhaus, and Bryan Fuller.

Wineman, known for directing the 2018 horror short film “The Quiet Room,” has yet to respond to the allegations. AMC is currently reviewing the complaint and has no immediate comment. WME, the agency representing Fuller, declined to comment.

The lawsuit also accuses Fuller of bullying, insulting, and humiliating Wineman. It alleges that Fuller retaliated against Wineman by denying creative requests, sabotaging shots, heckling interviewees, storming off set, and ignoring him for weeks whenever he perceived any rejection from Wineman.

According to the filing, several executives either witnessed Fuller’s actions or were informed about them but chose to ignore the warning signs and allowed his
