June 27 (UPI) — Max unveiled the trailer for their upcoming docuseries, Superpowered: The DC Story, which is set to premiere on July 20. The trailer showcases James Gunn, who is leading the charge for Warner Brothers’ DC Comics-based movies, including his latest project, Superman: Legacy, which he wrote and will direct.

The series also features renowned DC artist and current CCO, Jim Lee, along with director Patty Jenkins of Wonder Woman, producer Michael Uslan of Batman, series creator Damon Lindelof of Watchmen, and Dwayne Johnson, the star of Black Adam.

The trailer delves into the historical controversies surrounding female superheroes and the inclusion of gay subtext in comic books. The docuseries is directed by Leslie Iwerks and Mark Catalena.

A press release confirmed that the series will include new and archival interviews with various DC actors, writers, and creators, such as Melissa Benoist from Supergirl, Greg Berlanti, the producer of Arrowverse, Tim Burton, the director of Superboy, Mike Carlin, the writer of Superboy, Lynda Carter, who portrayed Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill, the actor behind Superman’s character, Kaley Cuoco, the voice actor for Harley Quinn, Gal Gadot, the actress who played Wonder Woman, Michael Keaton, who portrayed Batman, Regina King from Watchmen, Zoë Kravitz, the actress who played Catwoman, Zachary Levi, the actor behind Shazam, Tom Mankiewicz, the writer of Superman, Jason Momoa, the actor portraying Aquaman, Christopher Nolan, the director of the Dark Knight trilogy, Robert Pattinson, the star of The Batman, Christopher Reeve, the iconic Superman actor, John Ridley, the screenwriter and writer of Other History of the DC Universe, Margot Robbie, the actress who portrayed Harley Quinn, Bruce Timm, the creator of Batman: The Animated Series, and Mark Waid, a renowned comic book writer.
