‘Expert Car Advice: Discover the Best Parking Spots to Avoid the Latest Car Scam’

Motorists have been advised by mechanic Scotty Kilmer to park their cars near stores in order to protect themselves from a tyre scam. According to Mr. Kilmer, there have been reports of scammers deliberately damaging car tyres, potentially causing serious consequences for drivers.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Mr. Kilmer brought attention to the flat tyre scam where individuals deflate car tyres when no one is around. He explained, “You go out to the store and people come when nobody is looking, they let the air out of your tyre. Then you come back and discover a flat tyre, and suddenly someone approaches you offering to fix it for you.”

Mr. Kilmer emphasized that it usually takes a while for a tyre to go flat naturally and drivers would often notice the low tyre pressure warning light if there was an issue. However, if the pressure warning light was never on and suddenly a flat tyre occurs, it’s highly likely that the air was intentionally let out of the tyre.

Mr. Kilmer warned motorists against engaging with these scammers, highlighting the various risks associated with dealing with them. He cautioned that scammers may take advantage of the situation by either stealing the tyre or directing drivers to their own garage, resulting in exorbitant repair charges.

To mitigate the risk of falling victim to such scams, Mr. Kilmer suggested that motorists should not only carry a tyre pressure machine in their vehicles for emergencies but also park closer to the front of parking areas. By doing so, potential scammers would be discouraged from deflating tyres in plain sight, as the presence of many people coming and going would make their actions more conspicuous.

Mr. Kilmer further advised drivers to report any incidents of tyre deflation to the store and ask them to review their security camera footage for evidence.
